SafeRen (“we”, “us”, “our”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how it’s used.

1. Who we are

SafeRen is a platform that helps homeowners keep a clear record of every job they have done on their home — from major renovations to one-off jobs. You can contact us at admin@saferen.com.

2. The information we collect

  • Account details — name, email address, password (stored hashed), and optionally your home address.
  • Project information — details about your projects, tradespeople you record (including their contact details if you choose to share them), quotes, payments, attendance, and any documents or photos you upload.
  • Communications — the content of emails SafeRen sends on your behalf to tradespeople, and any feedback you submit via the app.
  • Technical data — basic usage information needed to keep the service running securely (IP address, browser type, session cookies).

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the SafeRen service and keep records of your projects.
  • To send emails on your behalf to the tradespeople you record.
  • To keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
  • To respond to your messages and improve the product.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with marketers.

4. Storage and security

Your data is stored on infrastructure provided by Neon (PostgreSQL database hosting, UK region) and AWS S3 (file storage, EU region). All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes — we cannot read your password.

We rely on a small number of trusted processors to run the service:

  • Stripe — processes the one-time unlock payment. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout and never reach SafeRen’s servers.
  • Resend — delivers the emails SafeRen sends on your behalf to tradespeople.
  • AI extraction — when you use receipt or document auto-fill, that file is sent to a third-party AI provider to read out the details. It is not used to train their models.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your project records for as long as your account is open, because the record is the product — deleting it would undermine the very thing you signed up for. If you close your account, we’ll either delete your data or anonymise it within 90 days, except where we’re legally required to keep it for longer.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@saferen.com. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

7. Cookies

SafeRen uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use tracking cookies and we don’t embed third-party advertising.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change to this policy we’ll let you know by email before the change takes effect.
